Introduction

This document will assist you in submitting your Brightcove {{ site.product_short }} app to the Google Play Store. The first three sections of this document, not including this one, list information/assets you will need when you begin to complete the submission process.

Following those lists is step-by-step guidance in the submission process. After you create your account you will proceed to the dashboard where you will supply information for the submission. The dashboard appears as follows, and the areas in which you will need to enter information are highlighted in yellow:

Android Mobile & Android TV

The following information/assets will be required whether you are submitting for Android Mobile or Android TV.

Getting started in the dashboard

  1. Browse to the Google Play Console sign up page and create your account. This will include paying a $25 fee. After completing the sign up process you will see the Google Play Console:

  2. Click the CREATE APPLICATION button.
  3. Supply the Default language and app Title.

  4. Click the Create button. You will be moved into the Store listing section.

Complete Store listing information

The Store listing section is rather lengthy. The different sections will be shown in different steps.

  1. Enter the Short description and Full description.

  2. Supply the graphic assets as requested in the form. You do NOT need to enter images for WEAR OS.

  3. Complete the Categorization section.

  4. Complete the Contact details section.

  5. Click the SAVE DRAFT button.

Complete App releases information

In this App releases section, you will create a Closed track to allow testing of your app before it goes live. The closed track lets you choose a number of people to test your app.

  1. Click the App releases link in the left navigation.
  2. Click the CREATE CLOSED TRACK link, highlighted in yellow below.

  3. Enter a name for your closed track.

  4. Click the CREATE TRACK button.
  5. To create the track you will need to perform the following tasks:
    1. Upload the APK (which was supplied to you by Brightcove)
    2. Provide a release name, for example 2.1.
    3. Provide release notes, in as many languages as you are supporting.
    4. Save or review the supplied information.

Complete Content rating information

Move into the Content rating section by using the left navigation. In this section you complete a questionnaire, and based on your responses a rating will be assigned to your app and its content. For complete information see the Content ratings for apps & games document.

The Pricing & distribution section is rather lengthy. The different sections will be shown in different steps.

  1. Click the Pricing and distribution link in the left navigation.
  2. Click the correct button to determine if your app will be free or not. Note that this is free to install the app or not. If you are going to gain revenue by advertisements or subscriptions, and not a per install fee, click FREE .

  3. Configure the Countries section to reflect any geo-restrictions you have, or don't have.
  4. You do not have to do anything in the Device categories section.

  6. Read the appropriate information for each question in the Consent section and check or uncheck the boxes.
