The Advertising module in the Video Cloud Studio is designed specifically for the needs of ad operations users. Using the Advertising module, you can set ad request policies for your videos and players, but cannot otherwise affect content in your account.

Video Cloud complies with guidelines issued by the Interactive Advertising Bureau. Read more about Video Cloud and the IAB.
Getting started
Read Managing Video Advertising for an overview of video monetization with Video Cloud.
Before you begin setting ad request policies with Video Cloud, you need to set up an account with an ad server or network, so you have a source that will deliver your advertisements. Video Cloud supports a wide variety of ad integrations:
- If you are a Video Cloud Express publisher with the $499 plan, you can integrate with the Tremor Acudeo video monetization platform. Video Cloud ad integrations are not available to Video Cloud Express publishers with other plans.
- If you are a Video Cloud Pro or Enterprise publisher, Video Cloud is configured by default to request ads from DoubleClick DART for Publishers (DFP). However, you will need to establish a relationship with DoubleClick and open an account if you want to serve ads using DFP.
- If you are a Video Cloud Pro or Enterprise publisher, you can also easily integrate with Tremor Acudeo or many other ad servers or networks. For some ad servers, Video Cloud has developed simple plug-in Ad Translators that you can use for integration. Some of our partners have also written their own ad server integrations for Video Cloud and can set you up when you partner with them. For other ad servers or networks, integration may require some custom development. See Video Cloud Ad Integrations for more information.
Launching the Advertising module
In order to launch the Advertising module, you must have the Advertising module enabled for your user. If you are not enabled, contact your Account Administrator to get access to the Advertising module.
To launch the Advertising module:
- Log into the Video Cloud Studio at https://my.brightcove.com.
- Open the Advertising module by clicking the Advertising icon in the navigation header:

A quick tour of the Advertising module
Here is an overview of the Advertising module:

- In the Navigation Pane, you can select either the All Videos or the All Players workspace. The Advertising module will open to the Players workspace by default. Most publishers edit ad policy settings at the player level, so this is the most convenient default workspace.
- In the Datagrid, you can select a single video or player, or, using Shift + click or Ctrl + click, select more than one video or player and edit in Batch mode. You can use the search field to find videos by name, ID, or reference ID, or find players by name or player ID.
- Using the Toolbar, you can turn ad requests on or off, edit ad request policies for the selected videos or players, or preview players.
- The Details pane displays whether ads are on or off for the selected videos or players. For videos, the Details pane displays details about the video, the video's key/value pairs, and the ad policy for the video. For players, the Details pane displays the base ad tag URL, the Ad Tag Translator URL, the Ad Policy SWF URL, if you have overridden the default values. Other details shown for players include the Player ID and the Player Template Name.
- In the Navigation Header, you can switch to a different module in the Video Cloud Studio, switch accounts, launch the Help Center, or sign out of the Video Cloud Studio.
Navigating between Videos and Players
There are several helpful tools in the Advertising module for handling large numbers of videos or players:
- Use the search field to search for the name of a video or player.
- If you have more than 50 videos or players, you can page through them, 50 at a time.
Ad Requests and Ad Policies
Using the Advertising module, you control when a player makes a call to an ad server requesting an ad. Making an ad request does not necessarily mean your player will receive an ad to play in response. Whether an ad request returns an ad or not depends on the policies and status of the ad server.
At the player level, you can make the following ad policy settings:
- Request ads from this player
- Configure Key/value pairs
- Choose your Ad Delivery Manager by setting the Ad Policy
- Override the Default Base Ad Tag URL (Ad Server URL)
- Override the Ad Translator
- Set the Ad Request Frequency
- Set Ad Insertion Points
Read Setting Ad Policies for Players for detailed information on setting ad policies at the player level.
At the video level, you can make the following ad policy settings:
- Enable Ad Requests for the selected video
- Force Ad Requests for this video
- Key/value pairs
Read Setting Ad Policies for Videos for more information about setting ad policies at the video level.
Video Cloud Express ad network integration
If you are a Video Cloud Express edition publisher with the $499 plan, you can enable your players to integrate with Tremor Media's Acudeo video monetization platform. For more information, see Video Cloud Express ad network integration. Video Cloud ad integrations are not available to Video Cloud Express publishers with other plans.
