Brightcove has developed XML templates (or creative templates) for each of the supported ad formats. If you are using DFP as your ad server, you can upload the Brightcove XML templates into DFP once (before you begin trafficking ads using DFP). After the formats have been uploaded, you can select the appropriate XML template from a drop-down list for repeat trafficking. The creative templates are populated during trafficking so that the responses to ad requests are formatted properly to be played on the Brightcove player.

For details on the Brightcove XML templates for each ad format, see Ad format details.

To import the Brightcove XML templates into DFP:

  1. Ensure that your user role within your DFP network allows for the use of Brightcove XML Templates. If you do not see “Creative Templates” on the DFP Main screen, contact your DFP Network Administrator and request that they modify your user role.
  2. Extract the Brightcove creative templates (XML files) to your hard drive. The files are located at: Brightcove3_XML_Templates.zip. You will upload each XML template you want to use in DFP separately.
  3. Select Creative Templates under the Administration heading on the DFP Main Screen.

DFP Main Menu

  1. The Creative Templates screen displays. Click Upload at the bottom of the screen that displays to upload one of the creative templates.
  2. When the pop-up window appears, navigate to the creative template to be uploaded from the Brightcove XML templates that were extracted to your hard drive, and select Upload File.

Upload Creative Template

The creative template (BC_Video_Ad.XML in this example) is uploaded and will be available for selection from a drop-down box during ad trafficking and will be available for you each time you are trafficking a Brightcove ad format.

  1. Repeat the upload process for all creative templates you want to use in DFP.
