Custom metadata is available only for Video Cloud Pro and Enterprise customers. If you are interested in upgrading your Video Cloud account, please contact Brightcove for more information.

After you have set up custom metadata for your Video Cloud account, you can set values for the custom metadata fields of your videos. You can set and read metadata for a video using the Media module, FTP batch provisioning, or the Media API. Custom metadata is also available through the Flash-only Player API, as described in Accessing a Video's Custom Metadata. This topic describes how to use the Video Cloud Studio's Media module to set custom metadata for your videos.

Before you begin

Before you can set custom metadata for your videos, you need to set up the custom metadata fields that you want to be available in your account. Read about how to do this.

Setting and updating custom metadata

Once you have set up your custom metadata fields, you can set values for any of your videos using the Media module:

  1. Select one or more videos that you want to edit.
  2. Open the Edit Video dialog (by clicking Edit in the action toolbar at the bottom, by double-clicking the name of the video, etc.)
  3. Click Custom Fields.
  4. The Custom Fields dialog lists all of the custom metadata fields that have been set up for your account. For string type custom metadata fields, enter the text of the field's value in the text field. For list type custom metadata fields, select the value you want to assign from the drop-down list. When you are done, click Save Changes.
