The Edit Settings dialog of the Publishing module is where you can set and modify aspects of your players, including name, access or API restrictions, hosting options, geo-filtering, search options, description, and video promotion tools. This topic includes:
To configure or edit the settings of a player:
The Edit Settings dialog presents editing options on separate tabs, based on the major components of the selected player. For example, the tabbed navigation templates present five tabs:
Since the Video Player doesn't have a video list component, there's no Video List tab for it in the Edit Settings dialog.
The Global tab enables modifying the following settings for the selected player:
A name you use to identify the player. This should be a clear, descriptive name for your player to help users identify it. The name can have up to 80 characters, including blank spaces. The player name is publicly viewable in public search engines and in email sharing, unless one or more of the promotional features have been explicitly turned off, as described under Viral Promotion.
A description of the player of up to 256 characters, including blank spaces. The description is publicly viewable in public search engines or in email sharing, unless you have turned off these promotional features.
Host on a Brightcove URL: Select this option to make your player available without having to specify a particular web address.
Host on your URL: Provide the URL of the page where you will later copy and paste the publishing code for the player. Be sure to include either http:// or https://. The Edit Settings dialog performs some checking for validity on URLs you enter and you will not be able to save a URL that doesn't pass the validation check.
Enable ActionScript/JavaScript APIs: Enable developer access to the player's data (videos) and control of video playback by selecting this checkbox to enable API interaction with the player.
Restrict to your web domain: Enter one or more complete URLs (such as http://example.com) to restrict your player's availability to these particular domains. Leave out the "www" in the URL for more flexible restriction. Be sure to include either http:// or https://. The Edit Settings dialog performs some checking for validity on URLs you enter and you will not be able to save a URL that doesn't pass the validation check.

Geographic filtering enables you to restrict this player to particular countries, or block the player from particular countries. For more information, see Geo-filtering.
On the Language Options tab, you can choose the language used for the labels on your player. You can select one of the following languages:
The email template used with the "Email this" feature will match the player language you choose.
By selecting Other and providing the URL of a label set file that you create, your player's labels can be customized to use other languages. See Localizing Players for more information. Note, however, that if you select Other, the email template used with the "Email this" feature will be in English. If that's not what you want, you can disable the "Email this" feature and rely on the "Get link" feature instead.
On the Plug-ins tab, you can enter the URL of one or more SWFs to be loaded into the player.

A plug-in SWF enables you to customize a player without creating a custom player template. For example, plug-in SWFs can be used to customize player controls or to record and send player behavior information for web analytics purposes. For more information, see Developing an Analytics SWF.
The Video Player tab enables modifying the following settings for the selected player:
By default, players include a full screen button that viewers can use to expand the player to fill their whole screen.

You can disable this behavior by selecting Prevent full screen functionality.
By default, a player loads, but does not begin to play its first video until the viewer clicks the play button. If you want instead for the player to start play immediately when it loads, select Automatically play video on page load.
By default, Brightcove players include a Brightcove icon next to the menu button.

Select Remove Brightcove icon to remove the icon, while preserving the existing spacing of the menu bar at the bottom of the player. Note: This option is not available for Brightcove Express publishers with the $99 plan. Read about upgrading your Brightcove Express account.
A bumper is a short video clip (typically just a few seconds long) that plays when a player loads or before a video plays. Bumpers are often used for branding. You can set bumpers at the video level or at the player level. Read more about bumpers.
You can upload a new bumper or select an existing bumper file to use as a bumper for this player.
By default, when a player loads, when a video is paused, and when playback is complete, a Brightcove player uses the video display to show an overlay menu that viewers can use to resume play, email the video link, or get a link to the player.

Select Disable overlay menu to remove this overlay menu from your player.
By default, Brightcove players include buttons that viewers can use to spread the player virally:
These options enable you to remove the email this button, the get link button, or the get code buttons.
If you choose the Video info option from the Video End Screen options, the Additional Videos options control whether the player displays a scrolling list, with thumbnails, of:
With each option, the list consists of not more than 12 videos.
The Video End Screen options control the player behavior when a video completes its playback or when a viewer clicks the MENU button in the player. You can choose one of the following options:

The Video List tab displays in the Edit Settings dialog only if the selected player has a video list component. On the Video List tab, you can disable auto advance for the selected player. When auto advance is enabled (the default setting), then the player automatically begins to play the next video once the previous video has completed.
