In this document, you will learn how to create a player in the Publishing module.

A player is a group of components that you use to present media to your audience on the web. A video player includes a video display panel, and may also include components like lists, labels, tab bars, and more. Using the Video Cloud Studio Publishing module, you can create a player by selecting one of a set of pre-defined templates.

Video Cloud Pro and Enterprise customers can also create custom player templates and add them to their accounts.

In this document, you'll learn about:

Creating a player

To create a new player in the Publishing module:

  1. Click New Player in the bottom left corner of the Publishing module.

The Create New Player dialog opens (Figure 2).

Figure 2. The Create New Player dialog.

  2. Enter a Name for the player. The name can be a maximum of 80 characters long.
  3. Select a template from the drop-down list. This list includes the standard player templates, as well as any custom player templates that have been created in your account.
  4. Click Create Player. Now you can access your new player from the lists in the Publishing module, the Media module, and the Advertising module.

Duplicating a player

You can make a copy of a player. This lets you make changes to a player without affecting existing players that may have already been published. To duplicate a player in the Publishing module:

  1. Select the player you want to duplicate.
  2. In the action toolbar, click the Duplicate button. A new player appears in the Publishing module with all the same properties as the original player, except that Video Cloud studio appends the word, "copy" to the name.
  3. Select the new player and click the Settings or Styles button to make any changes you want to make to the player's name, description, styles, or other properties.

When you duplicate a player, you duplicate only its settings and style, not its content. The new player will not yet have any content assigned to it. Read Assigning Content To Players to learn how to assign content to your new player.

Activating, deactivating, or deleting a player

The default state for a new player is Active. A green checkmark in the list indicates a player is active. You can deactivate or delete any player in your account. Be careful, though: you can not undo your deletion. You can also preview a player at any time by clicking the Preview button in the action toolbar.
