Before you begin integrating advertising with your Video Cloud players, you need to set up an account with an ad server or network, so you have a source for your advertising. Video Cloud supports several different approaches to ad integration, including:
The following ad integrations are available to Video Cloud Pro and Video Cloud publishers without custom development:
Ad Translators are SWF files that you can use to configure how your players interact with the ad server of your choice. Brightcove has developed Ad Translators to help you integrate with the following ad servers:
For more information, see Setting the Ad Source.
Brightcove is developing additional Ad Translators for most major ad servers. Contact your Account Manager or Customer Support to see if we already have an Ad Translator you can use before you start to develop your own. See Developing Ad Translators.
Flash security features constrain a Flash player's ability to interact with files on other domains. If your players are using an Ad Translator, you need to modify your site's crossdomain.xml file to permit your players to access the domain that hosts the Ad Translator. To enable access to the Ad Translators hosted by Video Cloud, include this line in your crossdomain.xml file:
<allow-access-from domain="admin.brightcove.com" />
If your Ad Translator is not hosted by Video Cloud, include the equivalent line for the hosting domain.
The Ad Rules SWF is an alternative solution that makes integrating with third party ad libraries that control all aspects of advertising in Video Cloud players much easier to do. The Video Cloud Ad Rules feature provides a solution for the most complicated ad integrations by giving developers significant flexibility, while still allowing use of other key Video Cloud features, like Ad Translators and Ad SWFs. With the Ad Rules SWF, you can create a complete custom ad integration and apply it to as many Video Cloud players as you would like.
Just like Ad Translators, an Ad Rules SWF is subject to the Flash security limits on interacting with files on other domains. If your players are using an Ad Rules SWF, you need to modify your site's crossdomain.xml file to permit your players to access the domain that hosts the Ad Rules SWF.
Brightcove has worked with many of the top video ad networks to enable simple integration with your existing ad management platform. Currently, there are solutions available for Adap.tv, Brightroll, Google AdSense for Video, SpotXchange, Tremor Media's Acudeo, uTarget.FOX, Videostrip, and YuMe. Please visit the Video Cloud Technology Partner section for more details and ad network contact information.
If you are a Video Cloud Express $499 plan publisher, your Video Cloud ad integration option is with Tremor Media's Acudeo online advertising network. See Video Cloud Express Ad Network Integration for more information. Video Cloud Pro and Enterprise publishers can also integrate with Acudeo.
